ABOUT ME
Tenor Petr Nekoranec is one of the most distinct singers of the young generation in the Czech Republic. In 2018–2020, he was a soloist of the State Opera Stuttgart, where he performed as Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Ramiro (La Cenerentola) and Ernesto (Don Pasquale). Since the 2021/22 season, he’s been a soloist of the National Theatre Opera in Prague.
Petr’s engagements for the 2020/21 season included Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia) in Stuttgart and Asprando (Nicola Antonio Porpora: Carlo Il Calvo) at the Markgräfliches Opernhaus in Bayreuth, Theater an der Wien, and Amsterdam. On concert stage, we saw him with the Czech Philharmonic within the Prague Spring Festival (Britten: Les Illuminations, op. 18), at the National Theatre in Prague (Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle), at the last concert of the Czech Philharmonic season at the Sychrov Castle, with Jana Šrejma Kačírkova at Smetana’s Litomyšl Festival, and with pianist Vincent Scalera at the Polná Castle in Vysočina Region.
He started his 2021/22 season as Asprando at Markgräfliches Opernhaus in Bayreuth, and he made his National Theatre Prague debut as Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia, October 2021) and Ferrando (Così fan tutte, January 2022). In the Spring 2022 he returned to Stuttgart in the role of Yuródivïy (Boris Godunov), to Brno as Tamino (Die Zauberföte), he made his concert debut in Brazil and in May 2022, he will be Almaviva in Toulouse.
Petr collaborates closely with the renowned British composer Iain Bell; he performed his monodrama Comfort Starving along with pianist William Kelley in the world premiere at the Bach Festival in Świdnica, Poland.
In 2016–2018, Petr attended the Lindemann Program for Young Artist at the Metropolitan Opera. He is the first Czech who has been accepted into this prestigious two-year program. In 2014–2016, Petr was a member of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, and its Opera Studio, where he portrayed several roles.

RECORDINGS
French Arias
The present Nekoranec debut album, featuring French arias, and made with the Czech Philharmonic and the seasoned conductor Christopher Franklin, serves as yet more proof that he is a singer of extraordinary talent. Owing to his light, highly flexible tenor, Petr safely masters even the most challenging virtuoso coloraturas of the Italian repertoire, while his infallible musical intuition has naturally led him to French opera, harbouring a plethora of profound and delicate emotions (Nadira's aria "Je crois entendre encore" from Bizet's Les p?cheurs de perles), amorous feelings, as well as wild merriment. Petr Nekoranec has succeeded in conveying all the nuances with a remarkable airiness, simplicity and plausibility. As if there were nothing as easy as singing ...
“Already the winner of multiple prizes, as well as a member of Oper Stuttgart’s ensemble, the 26-year-old Czech tenor Petr Nekoranec is clearly a name to watch – and was indeed our ‘One to Watch’ last month… What is immediately striking is Nekoranec’s light, easy timbre, with an occasional hint of an appealing flutter. There’s nothing effortful or forced, and he is able to move seamlessly across his range up to top notes that he seems able to control at will... This is an extremley impressive, seductive debut from a tenor who looks to be destined for great things.”
Gramophone, April 2020
“This is very special. It introduces a Czech tenor, Petr Nekoranec, who has one of the most beautiful voices I've heard in a long time. It is perfectly even from top to bottom with an especially easy top register that he uses with great skill and musicality.”
