Tenor Petr Nekoranec (*1992) is one of the most outstanding talents of the young Czech singing generation. In the 2018–2020, he was a soloist of the Stuttgart State Opera, where he assumed the roles of Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Ramiro (La cenerentola) and Ernesto (Don Pasquale). Since the 2021/22 season, he has been a soloist at the National Theatre Opera in Prague, where he can be heard as Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Ferrando (Così fan tutte), Romeo (Roméo et Juliette), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Peppe (Pagliacci), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore) and Rodolfo (La Bohéme).
Peter's recent opera engagements have included the roles of Asprand (N.A. Porpora: Carlo Il Calvo) at the Margrave Theatre in Bayreuth, Yurodiviy (Boris Godunov) at the Staatsoper Stuttgart, Almaviva at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, Oronte (Händel: Alcina) in Florence, Pylades (Gluck: Iphigenie na Tauride) and David (Charpentier: David et Jonathas) in Nancy. He passionately devotes himself to contemporary music, he collaborates with the British composer Iain Bell.
Petr is a laureate of a number of prestigious European competitions. REVIEWS
Arbace, Idomeneo (Toulouse, 2024)
https://classictoulouse.fr
"Another joy is that the score chosen here gives its full place to the confidant Arbace. It is all the better that the performer of this role is none other than the young Czech tenor Petr Nekoranec. His two arias: Se il tue duol in the second act and his big scene in the last act: Se colà ne' fati è scritto, preceded by the sumptuous recitative Sventurata Sidon!, which reminds us of the Norma before the Casta Diva, are two exceptional moments demonstrating the high technical mastery of the singer."

"With his two voices, a solid and richly timbred tenor midrange and a high register which sometimes veers towards the falsetto of the countertenor, the Czech Petr Nekoranec is undoubtedly not the most authentic incarnation of French haute-contre. We will nonetheless note a certain ease with Molière's language, a vocal heroism rarely achieved by singers in this category as well as a real ability to move people, particularly in the final scene where he declares having lost everything. RECORDINGS
French Arias
The present Nekoranec debut album, featuring French arias, and made with the Czech Philharmonic and the seasoned conductor Christopher Franklin, serves as yet more proof that he is a singer of extraordinary talent. Owing to his light, highly flexible tenor, Petr safely masters even the most challenging virtuoso coloraturas of the Italian repertoire, while his infallible musical intuition has naturally led him to French opera, harbouring a plethora of profound and delicate emotions (Nadira's aria "Je crois entendre encore" from Bizet's Les p?cheurs de perles), amorous feelings, as well as wild merriment. Petr Nekoranec has succeeded in conveying all the nuances with a remarkable airiness, simplicity and plausibility. As if there were nothing as easy as singing ...
“Already the winner of multiple prizes, as well as a member of Oper Stuttgart’s ensemble, the 26-year-old Czech tenor Petr Nekoranec is clearly a name to watch – and was indeed our ‘One to Watch’ last month… What is immediately striking is Nekoranec’s light, easy timbre, with an occasional hint of an appealing flutter. There’s nothing effortful or forced, and he is able to move seamlessly across his range up to top notes that he seems able to control at will... This is an extremley impressive, seductive debut from a tenor who looks to be destined for great things.”
Gramophone, April 2020
“This is very special. It introduces a Czech tenor, Petr Nekoranec, who has one of the most beautiful voices I've heard in a long time. It is perfectly even from top to bottom with an especially easy top register that he uses with great skill and musicality.”
